My flower gardens are doing so well this year that I have decided to start this thread. Would love to see your lovelies. Jezz I will also address your question about how I start rose cuttings. So I will do that first. In the past I have taken my cuttings starting around the end of August or September is ideal. This year I have already put some cuttings in to see if they will grow. No bottle covering them. I water them daily if the soil appears dry. You water them until the cold and snow arrives. I start by getting a cutting of this year's growth after the flowers have faded. Cut a healthy, long, pencil sized cutting if possible. The cutting that you are going to plant should be about 6-8" long. You can sometimes get two cutting from one branch. Apply rooting hormone and bury about 2-3" of the in the ground. Will show a picture of that later. If I plant the cuttings in late August or September, I protect with a bottle for the Winter, bottom removed. When it's Spring and there is sign of new leaves or the weather is pleasant remove the bottle but replace if there is threat of Winter returning.

Took these pictures of my perennials hibiscus this morning. They too are doing well. No particular order just in an area where the seeds fall. the white with red is in my back perennial garden. The last one is what's left of my rose of sharron.

This is one of my Hydrangeas . There is die back each Winter but this year this one did better. It usually blooms pink but through the Winter I fed it diluted vinegar. One bunch of flowers is a pale blue or a hint of blue. The others are pink. Attachments:

I tried something new last Fall by putting 2 different colours together. Here is the result. I am trying the same with cuttings of two different colours this year. Pink and white; red and white, orange and yellow, whatever I can combine that is the same variety. Attachments:

My blooming orchids. One of my favourite annual for border edging is Profusion zinnia. They are the colourful ones from last year. I planted them again this year but they are slow....just forming with lots of buds. Earwigs are a problem also, leaves and flowers all chewed up.

Your's looks beautiful.

Yhey are so hardy and get better as the summer winds down. Beautiful display of them you have.

You asked about white stuff on your plants. It's a fungus that attacks plants when there is too much humidity. Roses, phlox, and others are susceptible. You can use a mixture of one heaping tablespoon of baking soda in a gallon of water or purchase a fungicide to spray on the entire plant. Avoid wetting the leaves when watering.

Propagation of African violets from leaf cuttings is so easy. Several small plants can be had from one leaf. here is one I started from a leaf: My tropical hibiscuses that I put outside this year are just loaded with buds. They are slowly opening. They last a day or two. Still waiting for the reds and yellow. The pink ones seem to be earlier opening.
