I agree. We must honor our commitments to them but I hope they aren't all settled in Toronto or Montreal. Much of our country is sparsely populated. Many of our retail businesses are begging for employees now, especially in the small towns.

I'm confused. With Islamic countries numbering over a hundred, the "The Organization of Islamic Cooperation, or OIC, is an International organization founded in 1969 consisting of 57 member states. 53 of the member countries are Muslim-majority countries, meaning that Islam is the dominant religion of that nation. The Organization's goal is to protect the interests of Muslims around the world".
Over a billion Muslims...couldn't they take part in freeing Afghanistan an a rescue of Taliban victims???

Why would they when Western countries will do it for free ? and it allows a larger foothold of Afghans into Canada and the US. The ultimate goal of Islam is to be the dominate religion over the entire world, it might take another few decades or so, but their progress is unstoppable. The Crusades never stopped, just took a bit of a rest until the past 20 years.

M.E. countries never seem to offer help or take in refugees, better to let us pay for it.
Not sure that bringing in 20,000 or more of the world's most rigid, backward, brutally misogynistic religious fanatics to live in Canadian cities is a good thing for Canada.
Let’s hope they don’t get too upset at the girls in shorts and all these gay people and Jews.
I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now.

They've taken over a trillion dollars from the US. the Muslim leaders are a corrupt bunch obviously. The word here is they kept saying they have all these fighters and that's where the money went. But the fighters were 'ghosts'. So the money went where? It's obvious the Muslim aren't interested in fighting the Taliban. Well they lost a country. Now the world will have to be on there toes watching for terrorists again.

But the fighters were 'ghosts'. So the money went where? It's obvious the Muslim aren't interested in fighting the Taliban. Well they lost a country. Now the world will have to be on there toes watching for terrorists again. After 9-11 attack the Taliban were found to be aiding their training. The USA demanded bin Ladin
"The Taliban declined to extradite him unless given what they deemed convincing evidence of his involvement in the 9/11 attacks,[4] and ignored demands to shut down terrorist bases and hand over other terrorist suspects apart from bin Laden.
The request was dismissed by the US as a meaningless delaying tactic, and it launched Operation Enduring Freedom on October 7, 2001, with the United Kingdom. The two were later joined by other forces, including the Northern Alliance troops on the ground.[5][6] The US and its allies rapidly drove the Taliban from power by December 17, 2001, and built military bases near major cities across the country. " WIkipedia
This is the history as I remember it.
In the opinion of many the allies and the USA should have left Afghanistan then, on or about December 17, 2001, not 20 years on.
"those who forget their past are bound to repeat their mistakes in the future"
See Russia -Afghanistan war.
See 'Nam French Indochina war -USA Indochina 'Nam war
See Cuba bay of pigs
See Korea.
The United States has not won a single war since the defeat of Japan. Moreover, the US was beaten by armies in Korea and Vietnam, and in the 21st century, then when it invaded Afghanistan, almost 20 years later it was also defeated by Taliban units.
There is no way this epic disaster should have lasted so long---so costly, to end with the Taliban stronger than ever. With more persecution of academia, misogyny, rape, murder mayhem and a radical Islamist rule. Another 20 years would not have made a difference in many experts opinions.
Apparently little realistic exit plans as well.

Agree Peeves. We've had some idiots running the military and intelligence for years. This time it was Biden who disregarded the military leaders. He had no plan to pull out of there, none. We all agree it was time to get out. There was no reason we should have stayed there so long. Was ridiculous.
I had heard they were tryin go to retrain Afghans with western ways. Mostly Afghan's didn't like it, their religion does not allow that. Wasn't something another country should be imposing upon them. Religious civil wars have been going on forever. We should not be involved in that. We are sorry those people harm and disrespect the woman and children and have such barbaric ways. It's not up to us to decide how these people live. Obviously these people are not peaceful. Shame!
They are saying the fear is now Al-Qaida/ISIS will now become powerful again. This is terrifying for everyone. Our stupid intelligence had better be on their toes?? We should not, imo, allow these people into our countries. But, then that won't happen. They are saying, too, that China will be or has Afghanistan as an ally now. There are minerals they want from that region. Another scary thing.

I don't see why anyone is blaming Biden. He didn't set the policies for that trip. He has been in office less than a year trying to fix the mistakes of those in office for the last 20 years. The 20 years they tried to help that country. He has done what is right. Hope that terrorists aren't among the ones being saved.
I wonder why the US didn't destroy/disable all the equipment they left for the Afghan army. Those are a bunch of cowards they were training.

Trump advertised the pullout and set the stage for this disaster and Biden compounded it by having no real exit plan and underestimating the Taliban, now prepared, immediate reaction. Both were exceedingly incompetent in the Afganistan withdrawal handling.
Hells Bells, even I knew that once having been told of the withdrawal date, (by Christmas), the Taliban would be making full readiness to immediately attack.
The Islamist radicals are constantly looking for weak spots. The terrorist threat has changed dramatically over the last 20 years, as in the spreading of al Qaeda to Syria, Yemen, Somalia and ISIS in Iraq.
Still, if we dare to criticize Islamists we are branded with a charge of Islamophobia.. that is the power of empowerment given by bleeding hearts to the denial of Islam's history and contemporary rule. Islam is by any reasonable examination a political movement insidiously encroaching on civilization(s).

With all do respect, that is a rather perfunctory superficial generalization in my opinion.
The International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) (ISAF) a NATO-led military mission in Afghanistan, established by the United Nations Security Council in December 2001 by Resolution 1386, as envisaged by the Bonn Agreement. Its purpose was to train the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) and assist Afghanistan in rebuilding key government institutions, but was also engaged in the War in Afghanistan (2001–present) against the Taliban insurgency.
In declassified figures, an estimated 7,000 Afghan security forces were killed during 2019. Additionally, between 29 February and 21 July 2020, about 3,560 soldiers were killed. a new updated estimate of 66,000–69,000 dead for the whole war, up to April 2021.
Hardly cowards in my book.
Over 4,000 ISAF soldiers and civilian contractors, over 62,000 Afghan national security forces were killed, as well as over 31,000 civilians and even more Taliban.
Canada spent an estimated $18-billion fighting in Afghanistan and trying to reconstruct the country. The war took the lives of 158 Canadian soldiers and wounded more than 1,800 others. Seven Canadian civilians were also killed — a diplomat, four aid workers, a government contractor and a journalist.
As of July 7, 2018, there have been 2,440 U.S. military deaths in the War in Afghanistan. 1,856 of these deaths have been the result of hostile action. 20,320 American servicemembers have also been wounded in action during the war. In addition, there were 1,720 U.S. civilian contractor fatalities.
Twenty-two U.S. servicemembers were killed in Afghanistan in 2019. Note: This article has been corrected. Twenty-two American service members were killed in Afghanistan in 2019, the highest number since NATO combat operations in the country ended at the end of 2014.
I believe that I read that no USA military deaths occurred in 2020

They are blaming Biden for doing it too quickly and the way they did it. Biden did follow though on his campaign promise, but the withdrawal he ordered resulted in immediate violence and the swift fall of the Afghan government. Now he's blaming it all on the Afghanis. I guess it was all too fast for the U.S. to take all their equipment with them. So far his attempts to 'fix' things aren't going too well, especially on the illegal migrant front.
