What a bounty! Are red peas like beans? I've not ever seen those. The red peas are like kidney beans. They are smaller and a variety from the Caribbean. You could grow kidney beans and pick them when the pods turn yellow or let them dry. I have 3 kinds of beans. Will show pics when I harvest. I made some juice this year because there were so many berries. Have been enjoying them all summer. Also made some rhubarb drink. Something new. I like that too. Picked the last of the blueberries yesterday. The black berry crop is starting to ripe and the plants are loaded. Will freeze some for baking. . Attachments:

I don`t have a green thumb but even if I did I can`t bend down to do it. I do envy people who can keep such lovely gardens.
I used to keep pots of herbs, basil, oregano and thyme but didn`t bother this year.

I just harvested some herbs. Thyme, Sage and mint. Cut some oregano last week. While wondering through the garden I took some pictures of veggies and flowers. Have you ever seen climbing green beans with peach/peachy pink flowers. They are so beautiful. Also picked some blackberries. Attachments:

Veggie garden doing well. I can pick green beans everyday. Look at these. The blossoms are peach/peachy pink. Pretty enough to grow on an arch. There are 3 or 4 other varieties I cannot locate right now. I have prepared beans for the freezer two day already , two days ago and today. My roses are doing well also. Pics to come later. Most of my roses are from cuttings. This one I got on a visit to Niagara Falls. I was visiting my daughter and one of her neighbours was busy pruning so I asked for cuttings. I brought home 3 pieces and two became plants. Here is one of them. Attachments:

Islandgrl, Your garden looks scrumptious! Ah, thanks for the definition of the peas. Kidney beans are good, never grew them. The green beans you describe remind me of an heirloom variety. I grew some heirloom peas once, the color of the blossoms and the scent was awesome. I've had trouble getting a cutting of roses to get started. I gave up. Is there a trick to that? I have a very old rose bush. Almost looks like a wild rose. Don't know the name of the variety, I have looked for it. I may have to dig it up this fall. I can't seems to get rid of the powdery mildew it's had. I keep cutting all the green off it this year. It's just not doing well. I will try and just dig it up rather than fight with the dang thing. Love your black berries! Once upon a time my old neighbor was growing those. I had a few come across the fence, but they died off. Also love the color of your iris. Nice! I just picked and ate my red bell peppers! So good. Sorry no pic of that. Picked my first tomato, getting ready to eat it. More on the vines out there. I've got butternut squash growing, I'll have to get some pics of that. I've got tons of cucumbers, way too many. My flower gardens are still doing well. End of season for many. Here are a few of my best flower pics this year. Dahlia, Echinacea

It rained here last night which was a good thing. I spent yesterday, even though it was hot and humid, weeding. I plan on doing that again today when the water is dried off the plants. I also picked about a quart of black berries. Hubby reaped some more stuff this morning. I have more green beans to blanch today and that will be it for the freezer. Anyone wanting beans? They are just bearing like crazy. Attachments:

I have 3 kinds of shelling legumes and 4 or 5 different varieties of green beans: Nice. I downsized my green beans this year. The yield was too many for us. This year mine were planted with seeds of last year. Not much of a yield in the pot I have them in. Think I might try some legumes next year.

Later I am going to see if I can donate some freshly picked green beans and cucumber to the senior's home in town.

I'm impressed truly, I do wish I could grow my own. We have plenty of garden but neither one of us are physically able to do that stuff. Sigh...
