Toilet tissue advertised as "double rolls" when they're the same size they were when I was a kid. Chocolate bars have dropped a 1/3 rd to half the original size. Packaged food "servings" are nowhere near a serving.
I know things get more expensive (with modern day efficiencies ?)..but c'mon, we're not blind and stupid. Time to count the raisins in raisin bran.

I totally agree, people shop by price not product weight, hence the change in package contents but the keeping of the same package with a different and less content weight (most don't read the fine print ) . Prepackaged Quaker Oats is a prime example as they used to have 10 packages with a total weight of 430 grams. Now they have 8 packages at a total weight of 344 grams, but the same box, picture, and the price, is the same as the original 10 packages. Wine boxes are shrinking, many are now 3L instead of 4L, the prices will creep up until they meet of surpass the old 4L size. At the meat counter in many grocery stores, you now have pre-packaged steaks and other assorted cuts, all nicely wrapped, and priced as family pack for $xx dollars with no weight at all. Some prepackaged salads have suddenly gone up 40% overnight, many stores are trying to make us used to the "new normal" of excessive profits with the pandemic as an excuse.

A double roll now is only a single. Bacon 350 grams instead of 500 same cost or more. Went to M & Ms, I like their rice and vegetables, smaller bag, more money, $7.99, not worth it anymore. We are being hosed.

They started the size of commodity thing before the pandemic. This was price gouging in it's finest imo. Then when the pandemic hit we see those same commodities triple in price. Shameful! And on a senior budget who can afford to eat or wipe our butts? I don't think it's just seniors being affected, wages certainly haven't gone up to make up the for the losses. This is wiping out the middle class and in a hurry! It's not affecting big business though is it?

I'm sure the box stores, curb pick-ups like Walmart are doing great, but the small businesses are broke, gone or in serious debt.
I buy most of the groceries for pick up, and the prices are abysmal a box of Bran Buds cereal near on $ 6.00 !
Thankfully I'm able to cope. Had two jobs for years and investments, but how someone on a pension survives today is pretty hard unless they can get to a food bank.
It's even worse to those of us that can remember the prices back in the day. I remember our butcher used to throw in a soup bone or some liver for free with our order. Fish cost near pennies.
delivered newspapers. There was 8-12 pages then, and our city paper is still the same size, but with twice the ads,no comics and costs...well way too much for what we get since the news is on TV -internet anytime you want it.

Nothing is the same as it used to be. Kids don't respect theirs elders. A jar of coffee is smaller but cost more A loaf of bread is more than a dollar. Oranges aren't sold by the dozen, in fact all fruits are by weight. You can't eat the skins or seeds of most.

Or more... the cost of living here is supposed to have gone up by around 3% but I don't know what they are costing because it's a lot more than that.
