Ukraine the target of RED expansionism that will cost thousands of lives. The answer ?
WORLD action. THE USA can't stop Russia alone and a European war is unacceptable.
Maybe It's time for black ops and wet work?

The Russia / Ukraine issue goes way back, there's more Russian nationals in the Ukraine than any other country, the Ukraine is key to Russian economy. Russia will prevail, the west is too fractured and weak to stop the bear.

I think Windy is right, we can't stop it unless we want a full out war which I doubt anyone would support. Not sure how this all started but Russia says they were antagonized by Ukraine wanting to join NATO. Just an excuse of course to annex it, but other than sending some ammo and money no one will help.

Ukraine was the second largest piece of the old USSR, and is tied to Russia socially, economicly, and physically. Russia will not allow the Ukraine to become part of NATO, it's not a negotiable issue. This would be Russia's "Cuban missile crisis", having the US backed alliance so close would trigger an unwinnable war. Trudeau is sending a war ship to the Black sea, that should put the fear into those Ruskies. 🙄

I doubt the U.S. would want to get into a foreign war again.
And I doubt Ukraine will be allowed to join NATO.

Right, so Putin will win this.

Right, so Putin will win this. Yes and perhaps a pyrrhic victory. Certainly hope so. I can't believe this is happening.

Hard to believe isn't it, I don't think sanctions will stop him, he knows no one wants a war. Very sad for the Ukraine people, I hope not too many lives are lost.

It is isn't it, watching the news is depressing. Mind you, I think Putin is getting more of a pushback then he bargained for, so maybe there is some hope.

IMO, he's totally committed to his goal of taking Ukraine back under the Russian umbrella. There will be no stopping him this time, but hopefully his game of "risk" won't involve all of Europe and then the world. Canada in our present state is very vulnerable, good thing we live next to the US or we might be all speaking Russian already.

Right, and we have to rely on the U.S. to protect our Arctic which could become a major issue soon.

I blame the European culture. They are the ones that start wars. They think nothing of 1 or 2 million dead. And they have been at it for centuries. It's always some tin pot dictator.
Guys like Trump and Biden and Trudeau don't have much stomach for war. They try to avoid it as much as possible.
Now look at China. China hasn't been to war for ages. I think the Korean War was the last one.
I'm not so sure about Kim Jong Un in North Korea.

They attacked a maternity hospital, and the body count is going up. Trudeau is in Europe with his entourage, sheez, I I get why he is there but not all those ministers, that's just a photo op.

It's not just the Russians. Go through history. I doubt there is one square foot of land that hasn't been fought over in Europe. That hate just keeps carrying forward. It doesn't go away.
