Printer cartridges are a real ripoff. Ever wonder what is inside. I took one apart. There's a tiny sponge inside supposedly filled with ink. On a new printer it's not anywhere close to full. Done on purpose to make you buy replacements. This is what it looks like. Click on it to enlarge. Attachments:

I pay over a hundred dollars for my cartridge but not too often. Maybe every 3 years or after about 5000 copies, then I try to squeeze a few more out before I recycle and buy a new one. Hey Campy....You have mastered the art of posting pictures.

That's the reason I bought a B&W Laser printer, the cartridges last a long time and don't dry up. I still have an HP ink jet printer, but just use the scanner function for pictures and documents.

I've never seen a sponge in any cartridges I've used, just ink and the chip.
My Epson quit (again) over a year ago so I splurged and bought a Canon endless ink printer. I don't do that much printing but was fed up with the cost of cartridges so splurged. Can't take it with you.
Have to say, this is my third wireless printer and the only one I couldn't get set up for wireless, it was way different to the others.

What make is the wireless printer? I have two Canon Printers. They are both wireless but the one to the desktop is connected via USB cable. Computer is too old for wireless. The wireless one often interferes with my wi-fi connection and I get a temporary drop out.
Canon has an app for wireless printing.

Wireless means you don't need the USB cable to connect, you can print from any device, providing the printer is on. Mine turns itself off after a while.
The printer has to be set up to the wireless, normally I would just enter the wifi password nthe printer window, like you do with a device this one is different, there is no window, you have to wait for flashing lights in a series of steps...

My desktop is so old it can't connect via wireless so I just hook up the cable to the USB port.
I have two printers. One in the main room and one in the bedroom. When I'm using my tablet at night in the bedroom , if I see something interesting that I want to print, I print it out wireless and pick it up on the morning.
I've figured out how to refill the cartridges. I'm saving quite a bit on printing. It's messy but worth it and both printers use the same cartridges.
If you have an old serial cable printer, you can't hook it up to the new devices. There is no serial port.
The tenants in my building leave all their stuff behind or stuff they don't want any more in the laundry room and anyone can pick it up.
