Trudeau created drama is on again as he chose to take a vacation to a surf spot, Tofino with his family rather than mark this special day of remembrance for indigenous children and truth & reconciliation. Normally he doesn't miss out on a good photo op but he did on this one which is creating quite a stir. The ends up being all about him. He and his handlers misread this one. Not only that but his calendar lied about where he was but was corrected after he was outed.
"there was again a glaring gap between his oft-stated commitment to Indigenous reconciliation and his choices...At the first post-election opportunity in his third term, Trudeau has proven his critics right"

Chances are that is what will happen in this instance. But if he had wanted to mark Canada’s very first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, the prime minister could have announced a decision along those lines on Thursday.
Instead, his contribution to the event will be remembered for all the wrong reasons.
While Canadians across the country were attending ceremonies and marches designed to mark the occasion, Trudeau skipped town to join his family in Tofino. The only prime ministerial sighting on Thursday featured a beach.
On just about any other day, few would quarrel with the notion that Trudeau is entitled to some down time. He has just spent six weeks on the hustings. Prior to that, he spent 15 months navigating the country through a pandemic. And the rest of the fall will be a busy time.
But the actions of a prime minister always speak louder than his words, and in Trudeau’s case there was again a glaring gap between his oft-stated commitment to Indigenous reconciliation and his choices.
More than any of his signature policies, that gap accounts for his successive failures to secure a governing majority. At the first post-election opportunity in his third term, Trudeau has proven his critics right.
