What could possibly go wrong with this assortment of beaurocrats wanting access to personal accounts ?       Hope you haven't contributed to,  or participated in any protest or even have a name similar to someone who did.

The emergency orders require virtually every participant in the Canadian financial system — banks, investment firms, credit unions, loan companies, securities dealers, fundraising platforms and payment and clearing services — to determine whether they possess or control property of a person who is attending an illegal protest or providing supplies to demonstrators.   If they find such a person in their customer list, they must freeze their accounts and report it to the RCMP or Canada’s intelligence service, the regulations say.

Disgusting, bet it doesn't apply to the funding of eco terrorists. I was considering donating (if they are fund raising) to the Civil Liberties group which is taking this to court but will I be accused of something and have my bank accounts frozen? This should not be an issue in a free country.

No one should be championing gov. power that takes all due process out of the process and could ensnare people who have done nothing wrong, other than support a cause. It is a pretty dangerous precedent.

It's being debated in Parliament. If the ruling parties vote against it, it won't go through.

I guess Trudeau saw the writing on the wall from the Senate, I don't think they were going to vote for it, so he pulled it. Now this is all being put aside because of the Ukraine, people will forget what he did pretty soon. They shouldn't.

The U.E. went after Trudeau.

But I think Croatia and Germany calling him a dictator is too hypocritical to be taken seriously.

What I read is that the majority of Canadians agreed with him to use the Emergencies Act which was passed through Parliament.

Not sure about that, the writer of the EA didn't agree with it being used that way.

The police did have the means to disperse them without it, but my biggest beef is with the freezing of bank accounts. People who just gave 29 bucks in the beginning found their accounts frozen. That is wrong.

Well, the inquiry mandated by law has started but the Liberals are allready up to their tricks claiming cabinet confidentiality...

We have now learned that Cabinet relied on CBC stories to invoke invoke the Emergencies Act, Min. Of Justice testifies.

So the Justice Minister relied on hearsay to make a report recommending the invoking of the EA, not to mention the CBC had to retract two stories that where not true.


Trudeau government has now given itself temporary power to put forth a motion to adjourn the house until the Fall. Sounds to me like a CYA move, let's get outa here before they find anything.
