So, there is an investigation, but what are the odds he will be charged with anything? Odds are it wasn't just one flyer but how many, and should he step down regardless. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/george-chahal-jag-sahota-election-calgary-skyview-investigation-court-application-1.6192461Lawyers for the Conservative incumbent in Calgary Skyview who lost her seat to Liberal George Chahal will ask a Calgary judge to quash the federal election results in that riding because of the controversy surrounding campaign flyers, CBC News has learned.
The investigation has been taken over by the Office of the Commissioner of Canada Elections (CCE).
Calgary police are not investigating any criminal wrongdoing but confirm they are in a supportive role for the CCE.

Seems to me that is a case of theft and should result in some consequences.
I seem to notice that the law enforcement agencies are reluctant to pursue any broken laws if they can.
This from your link seems pretty damning.
"The Canada Elections Act contains a section on impairing or preventing the transmission of election advertising, which includes defacing or removing election signs or other election advertisements.
If charges were laid by the commissioner, possible penalties set out in the act include a fine of up to $5,000 and up to six months in jail. The commissioner can also use informal means to resolve a complaint, like a caution or information letter."

If the police aren't investigating, then the matter is more of an ethical rather than criminal nature, and I doubt the CCE will pursue it . We know the Libs aren't ethical, but you can bet money nothing will come of this, and there is no way of knowing how many more campaign flyers were tampered with. I'm no Liberal fan, but it sounds like a poor loser grasping at straws.

Were I to find someone took something from my property I would be mad and I certainly don't blame a candidate for pressing the issue.
