Is this anti Catholic bigotry, is the Canadian gov't going too far in demanding that the Pope come to Canada to apologize for the residential schools. In fact, the previous gov't allready apologized which was accepted by the then Chief Fontaine. nationalpost.com/opinion/full-comment-demands-for-a-papal-apology-border-on-anti-catholic-bigotryCanadian government. Provincial governments have also since apologized.
One year after Harper’s apology, Pope Benedict XVI issued an expression of sorrow for the role the Roman Catholic Church in Canada had in the residential schools system after having met Canadian First Nations leader Phil Fontaine. Other denominations have apologized and expressed regrets. But years later, some of our politicians are still singling out the Pope with particular demands. Why him? Why Catholics?
Horrible crimes were committed against vulnerable children. No one denies this. In fact, it’s the opposite: the crimes have been acknowledged and apologized for. It is time for some of Canada’s politicians to focus on true reconciliation and healing instead of using tragedy for political posturing. There is little true virtue to be found in their behaviour and even less honour.

This is dated 2018, and it continues, now with the burning of Catholic Churches which Trudeau says is fully understandable. Really, is it, does anything justify this? tnc.news/2021/07/15/a-map-of-every-church-burnt-or-vandalized-since-the-residential-school-announcements/The announcements about the finding of gravesites at schools has rocked the Nation, yet it isn't new, it was all in the Truth and Reconciliation Report, chapter 4 It's also worth reading what some of the Chiefs are actually saying. tnc.news/2021/07/13/can-we-discuss-those-unmarked-graves-expert-panel-counters-the-uncritical-media-narrative-about-residential-schools/tnc.news/2021/07/12/six-things-the-media-got-wrong-about-the-graves-found-near-residential-schools/It is standard practice in journalism to clarify whether or not an allegation has been proven, in court or otherwise. But when the Tk’emlups band issued a press release stating that they had used ground penetrating radar to locate 215 unmarked graves, the media accepted the story without question or any verification.
The band said a report was forthcoming in mid-June – but no report has been released to date. No evidence of any sort has been put forth for public consideration. We don’t know who carried out the research, whether it was a company or a university, or how the technology was used. At this point, we have a few claims, and nothing else.
This may be a minor point, but it’s an important distinction nonetheless. www.squamishchief.com/bc-news/casimir-says-tkemlups-find-is-series-of-unmarked-graves-not-a-mass-burial-3848382

Liberals want to abolish Christianity of any kind. That's the problem. It's here in the states as well.
I cannot accept the Catholic church for what they have done to boys and kids. But that doesn't mean all of them are bad apples.

Liberals want to abolish Christianity of any kind. That's the problem. It's here in the states as well. I cannot accept the Catholic church for what they have done to boys and kids. But that doesn't mean all of them are bad apples. Religion has been the bane of mankind. Persecution, debased behaviour, ripping off the faithful, archaic anachronistic laws, hate, torture and murder in the name of a fictitious man made super hero.
Continuing. Violence against women ( VAW ), also known as gender-based violence and sexual and gender-based violence ( SGBV ), are violent acts primarily or exclusively committed against women or girls. Misogyny. - Hatred of, aversion to, or prejudice against women; also : something (such as speech or behaviour)
And it continues in religiously governed states. Spewing lies and hatred and threats of death such as Iran
"Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei called over the weekend for the destruction of Israel, stating that the “barbaric” Jewish state “has no cure but to be annihilated.”
Nota Bene.. "Jews" to be annihilated voiced openly by a Muslim leader.
The Spanish inquisition, murder of blasphemers,'witches' gays, forced acceptance, forced conversion, and wars.
Those that chose to follow a religion do so after ignoring history and what a religion stands for and its past behaviour.
I leave it to others to defend such choice and why. For me the church of Rome in particular and it's followers should stand in shame.
Any apology from Rome is as worthless as one from Trudeau.

Good question. But The qualifying statement above is the stuff and nonsense often used, apologetic verbiage to excuse bad malus. Pun intended. As a sensible person with, I deem above average intellect I'm certain you are well aware that the 'faithful' attendees and practitioners are well aware they are supporting corrupt agencies of forgiveness for sins of discrimination, cheating, lying and hate for their fellows in hopefully forgiveness or for business contacts.
There is little love in the makeup of followers, that deride and denigrate other religions whose differing regard as to what is holy, sacred, absolute, spiritual, divine, or worthy of especial reverence. Discrimination, colour, caste, status, benefits to be accrued are all the makeups of most any religious following.
Certainly 'A' religion can give solace to those that suffer. (for a price)
Just as certain is that those you stand with at service are mostly there for conscience matters while in their heart of hearts there is hate for some other, avarice and possibly even moral turpitude. How many evangelists have been found out.
I would sooner trust an used car salesman than a television evangelist. As for the church of Rome, it's a corrupt, debased, hypocritical, misogynist collection of mostly unctuous reprobates.
You can quote me...

An so the anti-Christ has risen!
I haven't been to a church myself in over 40 years. But it does give solace and peace of mind for those who do go. Society should not just abolish it just because there are many negative aspects of it.

An so the anti-Christ has risen! I haven't been to a church myself in over 40 years. But it does give solace and peace of mind for those who do go. Society should not just abolish it just because there are many negative aspects of it. For any that require something that their religion can provide, go for it. To seek anything from a religious group I would first have to disregard the religions past. I can't do that.
While accepting that some parishioners are sincere god fearing, upstanding citizens,I expect that most attending do so as hypocrites. I know the historic failures of the religions and how the path to salvation has been used, cruelly and with avarice, persecution and debased behavior. I can't shan't over look the recorded behaviour of a religion anymore than I would the behaviour of Stalin, Pol Pot, Hitler or . Chairman Mao Zedong, all responsible for millions of deaths.
The Pope, leader of Catholics,is no less to be held accountable for past and present sins, than would be those named or,... a Mafia head.
The religions should be taxed for their holdings.

I'm not religious but I do understand it does help people, even tho the Church has it's issues (major issues).
There is Christophobia in Canada right now, with Catholic churches burning but no one condemning it. We know if they were Mosques the PM would be crying a river.
I'll never understand how the Catholic Church can keep all it's riches while it encourages poor people to continue having children they cannot afford. Did I mention the book, and movie, Shoes of the Fisherman, the Pope should read it. The Pope at the end gives away everything, would any Pope ever think of doing that, even this currenr so called socialist Pope.
Anti Semitism is also on the rise, not just here but in Europe, but they at least do have a voice. Unless you are the current leader of our Green Party that is, a black, Jewish woman who is being hounded out the leadership and party because she's not anti Semitic enough for the Green party. Go figure.

Re Catholic et al : The church land holdings should be taxed as a profit making enterprise. :Any religion that supports terrorist organizations should not have charity status. : Any religion that makes money and accrues property or investment profits -similarly! : Any religion that discriminates,is misogynist,is supportive of racism-anti __ ism, ignores laws of (CANADA) marriage, FGM,
forced marriage or forced religious practice on children or adults should be charged.
There are funds raised in Canada by supposedly charitable orgs. that want tax credits for funding listed terrorist groups. Government is cracking down and certain groups are protesting claiming they are targeted and being discriminated by disallowing their tax free status....
As for "ISLAMOPHOBIA"
Muslims in many ISLAMIC countries are murdered, terrorized, bombed, executed, imprisoned and denied human or civil rights BY THE ISLAMIC STATE. I.E. Syria, Iran,Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and more.
Yet, though these facts are known special focus is given to that religion's practitioners in democracies as Canada, that follow that same religion. If and when Muslims that fled Islamic countries stand up and openly, overtly ,sincerely, to condemn the aspects of Islam that are abhorrent to civilised humans, then I will hear them.
The Taliban is an Islamic fundamental group the denies women's rights, practices supports terrorist groups ( 9-11) and wont even allow a female schooling or any independence.
Syria, officially the Syrian Arab Republic, a Muslim state has bombed it's citizens and sent millions MUSLIM immigrants fleeing.
Pakistan has laws that could execute a person for blasphemy.
Islam has laws and practices are seen as draconian and anachronistic by civilized societies yet they are ignored while the democratic state of Israel (Jews) are constantly targeted.
I suggest that certain ubiquitous tenets of religions are badly in need of enlightened changes if they are to coexist with contemporary understanding.
Fundamentalism, extremism, irreducible, stubborn unreasonably or perversely unyielding to an extreme that denies human rights is just wrong no matter the religious, political rubric it falls under.
