Microsoft's latest Windows 10 update downs Chrome, Cortana Redmond, Google and Intel are desperately hunting for a fix
Microsoft says it's looking into reports that apps including "Hey Cortana" and Google Chrome hang or freeze for those who have installed the recent Windows 10 April 2018 Update.
The company suggests trying the Windows logo key + Ctrl + Shift + B to wake the screen or, for laptop users, opening and closing device lid, in an attempt to resolve the issue.
It's not immediately clear where the bug is hiding but developers from Microsoft, Google, and Intel are looking into it.
In a Chromium bug report thread – Chromium being the open source project behind Chrome – Yang Gu, a developer for Intel, suggests the problem is limited to those using the latest Windows 10 (version 1803) with Intel Kabylake (HD 620 and 630) chips.

Google Chrome Freezes in Windows 10 April 2018 UpdateYet another bug hitting the latest Windows 10 version
Some of the users who upgraded their computers to Windows 10 April 2018 Update are reporting issues with Google Chrome, as the browser freezes shortly after launch.
It’s not clear at this point how many systems are affected by this bug, but several users confirmed in this reddit discussion that Google Chrome also hangs in Windows 10 version 1803.
We couldn’t reproduce the issue on our systems upgraded to the April 2018 Update. The bug, however, doesn’t seem to be limited to just the latest version of Google Chrome.
One user explains that this problem causes the entire system to freeze and not even CTRL + Alt + Del works, with a full reset with the power button the only way to restore the machine.
By the looks of things, there’s no pattern that could help isolate the bug, as it appears to happen at random times, sometime after opening new tabs, new windows, or just when browsing the web. "Cumulative update with fixes coming next week"
Another user explains that running Google Chrome in the background could also cause other applications to freeze, including Visual Studio Code.

No, you can, but it will delete itself a month after install.
