I have repeatedly been dismayed at our medical services.
The latest, In early July I needed a specialist, 'ear, nose and throat'. My appointment is set for November 12th, a 4 month wait. The cost of our Health Care exceeds other countries that have far less wait times.
Excerpt, much more to read.
"These tragic cases are, unfortunately, not isolated. A survey of specialists found that average waiting times exceed what is clinically “reasonable” in 77% of cases. The situation continues to worsen year by year: In 1994, the average gap between clinically reasonable delay and actual delay was only four days, but by 2019 had grown to 25 days. The worst gap was in orthopedic surgery, where some 150,000 Canadians per year suffered for eleven weeks longer than even what specialists feel is clinically reasonable. Neurosurgery wait times were a month longer than specialists felt was reasonable, cataract surgeries nearly two months longer, hip and knee replacements three months longer, and so on.(12)

Access to a wait list is not access to health care! Canada has the longest wait times for ER visits, doctors appointments access to specialists and specialized treatments in the OECD because of a shortage of doctors which has existed for decades.
I had to wait 15 months to see a back specialist, (before covid) my appt fell during covid so it ended up being by phone anyway.
We need a complete overhaul and IMO more private options.
Trudeau is threatening to reduce health transfers to Saskatchewan over private MRI services, yet Quebec does the same and more

Eventually we will have options, our right, to choose if we can afford.
Seems to me a two tier system as other countries follow, would reduce some of the general cost and wait times we now endure under a rapidly failing system that gets worse as population ages.

Yes they do, it's amazing how sports figures get immediate care and operations.
Funny, Trudeau is threatening to cut health care payments to Saskatchewan over private clinics but doesn't touch Quebec which has many.

It's the lack of specialists that is causing long wait times.
You can always try another city. Mentioning private plans?
Try the U.S.

If the need is there immediate operations are done.
I had a sore stomach. Examined at the hospital and operated on in the same night. And 8 weeks of rehab.
No complaints. Excellent care.

Now tell me that I'm imagining my personal experiences of 5 hr waits in ER b4 seeing a doctor with multiple injuries from a fall . Or, 4 months waits for specialist. My head was bleeding, my wrist fractured, my knee swollen like a basket ball. Here's the cooker. Laying on a gurney in ER in pain bleeding and all, my 2nd of 3 pillows thrown on with me fell to the floor. I didn't need it but eventually a nurse went by and I simply "said the pillow fell off". She looked at me like I was poison, scowled and replied, " what would you do if it fell off at home?" Suggesting I took her to expect me to get off he gurney and pick it up....
I said I can't, wrist fracture, etc. With a dirty look she picked it up,tossed it on the foot of the gurney uncaring about my torn up knee. Walking away she said, " what's the magic word?"
Reluctantly but in fear of any offence or further invective I said, ," Thanks".
BTW I had torn a hunk of skin off my elbow and blood was dripping from the 3" tear, I got a dressing put on after a 2 hour, still on the gurney, wait.
Now I must add that in other ER visits, the wait also was 5 hours, but I was well treated when they finally had time. In another experience the ER Dr. prescribed an antibiotic which my family Dr. said was contraindicated with my history and he prescribed a different one.
Our health care sucks, plain and simple by comparison to other countries, and in my estimation on speaking to others.

Covid aside, healthcare is rationed, people die waiting. In Trudeau's riding there are 9 private clinics but other Provinces aren't allowed them.

It's the universal healthcare, government controlled policies that aren't working. I saw the coming. Here in the US conservatives are trying their best to avoid this. Our current socialist government is trying to push it. Socialism only works for the top elites and those in power.
I jest feel for all of you there who have to endure socialized medicine there in Canada. The UK has the same problem, it's not working.

We have no problems seeing my doctor or getting appointments when there is a need for hospitalization which is almost non-existent. Now, with the pandemic, appointments are by phone. Mostly prescription renewals for hubby.

Mostly prescription renewals for hubby. I've seen my Dr. a couple of times and also by phone. The family Dr. is OK, but hospital care is deplorable as is getting a timely specialist appoint. Covid has backed up severe need for surgery care and will remain as long as the vaccinated continue to fill hospitals. idiots.
A lady friend in a 'home' has just gotten her third shot. Cometh soon to our neighbourhood a 3rd,4th,fifth as COVID variations continue. Wouldn't be surprised that a mutation will be able to withstand available vaccines.

Simply because you are impatient and your hospital works on a triage formula. So other patients were ahead of you and you are not happy. You did mention good care when they got caught up. They do get busy. What's the solution?

Ok then you sit/lie in a hard narrow, gurney in the emerg. with blood running off your head and torn elbow,a knee swollen like a football a fractured wrist and possibly a concussion and you don't even get a Tylenol -band aid for 4- 5 hours, and yup, You can certainly be considered as inpatient. That is about as inane opinion as any might expect in such a situation. Our Health Care stinks. The solution? Admitting that and fixing it instead of playing politics. Other countries do better with less cost.

Cripes man what hospital did you go to. Is it in a third world country? How did you make it to the hospital? No Tylenol or band aid for 5 hours?
